Four D Rubber

FEBRUARY 2021 UPDATE

Hello,

We hope you are keeping safe and well in these difficult times.

This is just a quick update for you on the current situation at Four D. As you may well be aware, the UK has been hit hard by the latest wave of the pandemic. As a result, we have had to further strengthen the controls in place to protect our staff and ensure a safe operating environment. We have managed to keep working throughout the crisis but with a number of staff self-isolating our output has been affected. We are doing everything we can to safely address the issues but we wanted to apologise in advance as our lead times for February and March may be a little longer than usual.

For those of you outside of Great Britain, deliveries are also being impacted by the new procedures due to Brexit (impacting on all exports) and the global disruption to shipping from the pandemic. We are trying to find the best options to minimise delays but at the moment it seems that all carriers are having the same issues and the extra costs can be considerable.

We hope and expect improvements to both of these issues in the coming weeks. Coronavirus cases in the UK are now falling and the vaccine roll-out programme is progressing very well. The Brexit related transport problems should start to improve as everyone adapts to the new procedures. There is some hope that the New Year holiday in China may help to solve some of the pandemic related shipping problems. However, it looks like we won’t see a complete return to normal until later in the year at the earliest.

At Four D, we will do our utmost to maintain a reliable service to you. I’m sure you are facing many of the same challenges and can understand the difficulties. It would be great if you could place orders a little earlier to allow us more time to get everything ready. We understand that this is not always possible but please bear with us if we can’t fulfil the order in the usual timeframe.

Thank you for your continuing support and understanding, it really is appreciated. We very much look forward to getting back to normal operating and service levels in the very near future

Best wishes

Four D Rubber

2020 KEY UPDATES

Hello,

This year has presented many significant challenges, some good and some bad, for us all. I am sure that you have faced a number of personal and professional issues and we sincerely hope that you are ending the year in a safe and secure position. Amidst all the difficulties of 2020, it has been a great source of encouragement to see how people and businesses have adapted and developed to deal with these new circumstances.

At Four D, we have obviously prioritised the health and safety of our staff and operations as I’m sure you have. The fact that we have been able to continue to manufacture throughout the pandemic is a huge tribute to their efforts and testament to the steps we have taken. It has meant that our supply of products and materials to key sectors including dental, medical and food manufacture have been maintained. We have been honoured and humbled to be able to support these areas, now more than ever.

Below are some key updates we wanted to share with you as the end of the year rapidly approaches:

Pricing 2021

A financial impact of the pandemic on our business has been the demand (and therefore price) for the raw materials we use for latex and for latex free products as they are also the primary components in glove manufacturing. This has been further compounded by supply chain disruption and increased shipping charges.

We have absorbed these costs in 2020 and we are trying to minimise the impact on customers going forward. However, in order to protect the future viability of the business, we need to reflect part of these market increases in our pricing. Therefore, our prices will increase by 4% for all orders placed from 1 January 2021.

Brexit – Impact on shipping terms

As I’m sure you are aware, the Brexit transition period will end on 31 December 2020 and the UK will no longer be part of the EU trading block. The exact terms of the UK’s future trading relationship with the EU are still to be finalised. However, all options under consideration will mean a change to the practicalities of doing business between the UK and the EU and could lead to short-term disruption

We advise all customers  to look at your likely requirements for Four D products in early 2021 and provide us with orders or forecasts in good time to mitigate any Brexit related issues We have put in  place a strategic inventory of raw materials to help see us through this period but this change is coming on top of the impact of Covid..

The below covers the specific changes arising due to Brexit which impact mainly on our EU customer base. However, the potential delays at ports and stricter requirements for export documentation may impact upon all customers outside of the UK. The expected main ongoing impact of Brexit is that the rules on tariffs and VAT will change from 1 January 2021 for all goods exported between the UK and the EU. For clarity, our standard Incoterms for shipments after this date will be EXW (Heanor, UK). If Four D is responsible for delivery of your order, then the Incoterms will be Delivered At Place (DAP) / DPU (Delivery at place unloaded).

These terms should provide the most transparent and cost-effective supply process and should minimise the risk of delays at borders. Your pricing for deliveries after 1 January 2021 will be quoted either on EXW or DAP/ DPU terms. Under new UK legislation, we will also need documentary evidence that the goods have left the UK to avoid charging VAT on the invoice even if the terms are Ex Works. The specific evidence required will depend on the shipping method selected and will be clarified when collection is arranged. If you are located in the EU and wish to trade on different Incoterms then please contact a member of the sales team to discuss the options.

It is likely that there will be some short-term disruption and shipping delays in the first few weeks of 2021 for goods being exported from the UK particularly to the EU. We are working together with our service providers, to try to keep these to a minimum and we have put in place strategic inventory should shipments into the UK be disrupted. In shipping to other regions of the world under World Trade Organisation terms, tariffs are not generally applied to our products providing the appropriate tariff codes are used.

MDR – Medical Device Regulation

I am delighted to announce that we have secured our ISO13485 Class1 Certification for another year. We have strengthened our Quality and Technical team as we look to strategically develop this area of the business over the coming years and ensure compliance with ever increasing legislation.

In 2021, the change from the MDD Medical device Directive to the new EU Medical Device Regulations (MDR) is likely to represent the biggest compliance challenge. We have invested huge amounts of time and money in ensuring that our products meet these standards on an ongoing basis.

For customers using our private labelling services for medical devices, we will be communicating out separately a more detailed approach in the new year on how we need to work together moving forward to ensure compliance. This is a very important and valuable sector for us, and we will work collaboratively to meet requirements and minimise the cost impacts.

Four D Developments

At the end of December, we are moving our warehousing and dental finishing operations to modern new premises close to our existing facilities. This is a key step in our growth strategy and will enable us to improve and develop our UK medical device capabilities to meet future customer needs.

Together with the site move and strategic development of the business, we are upgrading our sales order system to a more comprehensive package with improved traceability and planning capabilities. This change will be effective as of the 1st January 2021. As with any new system there may be teething issues and I would like to thank you in advance for your patience and support as we work through any problems. Planning, preparation and testing is underway to make the transition to be as seamless as possible.

Finally, your relationship with Four D is extremely important to us and we welcome any feedback you have on how we can improve and develop our products and services. Please do email us with any constructive comments and we will be glad to review them with you.

Thank you again for your business and support in 2020. Please take care and we look forward to working closely with you in 2021 in what more normal circumstances will hopefully be.

Best wishes

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Four D Rubber Statement

24.03.20 UPDATE

Dear Customer

We hope that you and your team are safe and well.

The position with COVID-19 and the advice of the UK Government are both developing rapidly and I wanted to give you an update on the approach at Four D Rubber.

We remain open and able to manufacture and despatch as of now. We have reduced the number of  on-site personnel to a critical team to safeguard our employees and to follow Government guidelines. Once we have despatched completed orders in the next few days we will focus exclusively on our medical, dental and therapy products as well as material that is key for food production. We believe that these are essential businesses and so need to be given priority in the coming weeks.

Our facilities in Sri Lanka are subject to a nationwide lock down. This is scheduled to be lifted next week and manufacturing will resume as soon as possible.

Please accept our apologies if your orders are affected by this but I’m sure you will understand the exceptional position that we find ourselves in. We will obviously endeavour to get all or part of your order to you as soon as possible. We will keep you updated of developments but please direct any queries in the meantime to info@fourdrubber.com. The main telephone number will be directed to a mailbox for the next few weeks which will be checked every few hours. In the first instance, email is the best contact route.

We hope that the situation will start to improve in the coming weeks so that we can restore a full service. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Best wishes to you and your teams

19th March 2020

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Four D Rubber Statement

Dear Customers,

In light of the current situation with COVID-19, we wanted to share an update on what we, as a business, are doing.

Our first priority is obviously the health and safety of our staff. During this time of uncertainty, we want to reassure you that we are closely following Government advice and putting specific measures in place to minimise possible risks. At the same time, we are taking all steps to  continue to service our customers and maintain manufacturing in both locations.

In line with UK Government guidelines, we have put in place facilities for remote working in our customer services, sales, accounts and quality departments. This should enable these functions to continue to operate through the period of disruption. However, if possible in the first instance, could you contact us by email as inbound call handling will be more limited during this time.

We just want to reassure you that we remain open for business and will take all possible steps to maintain a service throughout the coming weeks. We are prioritising current orders and working hard to pull forward delivery dates in case of any further disruption. We may also look at part shipments of priority items for you or logical parts of an order ready to ensure supply is maintained.

If you expect to need to place orders in the next few weeks. it would be very useful to receive them as soon as possible so that we can plan for them and manage our supply chains. I’m sure you’ll understand that any shipment dates we quote may be subject to revision as the situation develops.

Within our operations we have put in place appropriate controls and cleaning regimes to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. The latest work, funded by the US Government, indicates that the Covid-19 virus can survive on surfaces without a host for a maximum of 3 days. On this basis, there is not an identified risk of infection from our products or packaging.

As you will appreciate, the landscape is rapidly changing, but we will continue to provide updates as appropriate.
Please kindly ensure that this communication is shared within your business. In the meantime, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or a member of my team.

Thank you for your continued support and we wish you all the very best in this developing situation.

Kind Regards

Joseph Lewis | Business Development Manager

DAM Award –  Global Brand builds on Last year and continues to impress

Another year past and another year winning.

ISODAM has won yet again the prestigious Dental Advisor TOP product award 2017. The Full article can be found at this link :https://www.dentaladvisor.com/evaluations/isodam-2017-product-award/.

However, below is the general gist of how great the product is.

“CONSULTANTS’ COMMENTS

  • “This is probably the best dental dam I have ever used. I was very pleased with it.”
  • “It is extremely flexible and doesn’t tear when stretching it.”
  • “Easy to place and floss it through without the need for lubrication of the dam.”
  • “A darker color would provide more contrast to the teeth.”

DESCRIPTION

Isodam is a non-latex dental dam formulated from synthetic polyisoprene (similar to natural rubber). According to the manufacturer, it is pre-cut and formulated to provide exceptional stretch, strength and tear-resistance while eliminating the potential for allergic reactions associated with latex products. Isodam is light blue in color and is supplied in 5″x5″ and 6″x6″ square sheets, in both medium and heavy gauges. It is appropriate for all operative dentistry procedures. Isodam was evaluated by 25 consultants in 468 uses. This non-latex dental dam received a 96% clinical rating.

PRODUCT FEATURES

The tear resistance of Isodam was very good, and consultants found it performed at least as well as latex dams. Holes can be placed close together, as the material readily stretches. The surface smoothness allowed easy placement between teeth. The light blue colour was neutral and easy on the eyes. The few instances of tearing that occurred were during hole punching or initial placement. Once in place, Isodam was durable. The lightly powdered surface and smooth texture were reported to be comfortable to patients.”

We have lots of developments in the pipeline to the brand which will only strengthen the brand’s position in the marketplace.

To be continued….
